Location
Our campus is located at 1601 Maple Street, Carrollton, GA 30118.
Faculty and staff members are expected to be physically present on campus as needed to support the in-person educational experience and on-campus vitality at the University of West Georgia. Depending upon teaching assignments and student demand, this could include the Carrollton or Newnan campuses.

Job Summary
The Associate Vice President (AVP) provides strategic and operational leadership for UWG's facilities and campus development functions, directing planning, design, construction, maintenance, grounds, custodial services, utilities/energy systems, sustainability, fleet management, and space planning across the UWG campus. UWG encompasses approximately 635 acres and 2.6 million square feet, including the instructional off site at Newnan. Reporting to the Vice President for Business and Finance and leading department-level managers, the AVP oversees a workforce of more than 200 employees and partners closely with the University System of Georgia (USG) Office of Real Estate and Facilities to advance capital planning, maintenance and operations in support of the University's mission and the functions previously mentioned.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Planning: Lead long-range facilities strategy, master planning, and capital prioritization; establish measurable outcomes and performance metrics. Engage campus stakeholders to build a culture of planning for facilities and campus development. Serve as a senior advisor to institutional leadership on facilities, infrastructure, deferred maintenance, and space utilization. Capital Development, Design & Construction Provide executive oversight for planning, design, and delivery of capital projects (institutionally, departmentally, and privately funded), including scope, schedule, budget, risk, quality, and stakeholder communications. Ensure consistent standards for design, construction, and project closeout; support effective procurement, contracting, and vendor performance. Coordinate with the USG Office of Real Estate and Facilities to align projects with system requirements and approvals.

Facilities Operations, Maintenance & Reliability: Direct delivery of cost-effective, high-quality facilities maintenance and building services, including preventive maintenance and lifecycle planning. Oversee utilities and energy systems to ensure reliability, resilience, and regulatory compliance. Advance service excellence through customer-focused processes, effective work order management, and transparent service-level expectations. Sustainability, Energy & Environmental Stewardship Create and advance a university-wide sustainability vision and implementation roadmap. Lead initiatives that deliver positive environmental outcomes while remaining socially responsible and economically viable. Drive energy management, conservation, and sustainability reporting aligned to institutional priorities.

Space & Asset Management: Facilitate space planning and advise clients and on space governance allocation policies and decisions. Maintain data-informed approaches to space utilization, asset condition, and renewal needs. Support campus-wide standards for facilities data integrity and documentation.

People, Budget & Administrative Leadership: Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing, engaged workforce; set expectations, build capability, and foster an environment where all team members feel valued, respected, and able to contribute fully. Manage budgets and resources to ensure high-quality, cost-efficient operations; identify efficiencies and strategic investments. Develop and maintain policies, standards, and procedures to support effective communication, accountability, and continuous improvement. Perform special assignments as delegated by the President and/or Vice President for Business and Finance.

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in Engineering, Construction Management, Facilities Management, or a closely related field with at least 10 years of progressively responsible management experience across multiple phases of facilities services, construction, capital planning, senior higher education administration, public sector leadership, or similar environments.

Master's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Facilities Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field. 12-15 years of progressively responsible management experience as described above. Professional credentials (examples): Professional Engineer (PE), Registered Architect (RA), Certified Facilities Manager (CFM), Project Management Professional (PMP), or equivalent.

Proposed Salary
$140,000 - 160,000 annually. Paid on a monthly basis.

ABILITIES
Ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints from internal/external customers, regulatory agencies, and community partners. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical publications, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to negotiate contract terms and manage vendor performance. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to work with mathematical concepts (e.g., probability) and interpret technical instructions in mathematical/diagram form. Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions amid ambiguity. Proficiency with standard office software and equipment; ability to leverage data and dashboards to manage performance.

KNOWLEDGE
Technical & Business Acumen with expert knowledge of facilities management and/or capital planning principles and practices. Knowledge of construction rules, regulations, and compliance requirements. Knowledge of RFP/bidding processes and contract terms and conditions. Knowledge and understanding of university operations and governance, especially within the USG. This position may require occasional evening/weekend work and limited travel for meetings, project activities, and system coordination.

SKILLS
Leadership and Communication Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and collaborate across multiple stakeholder groups. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level briefings and presentations.

Office Environment - Work normally performed in a typical interior work environment.
