Tennessee State University Department of Grants Accounting invites applications for the position of Assistant Director – Grants Accounting. An Assistant Director will effectively manage and assist the Financial Analyst staff in completing their assigned group of grants that includes working with financial data to produce reports and invoices from a variety of data sources.

Preparing financial status reports/milestone reports as required to meet grant records and reporting requirements, maintaining data in the appropriate database for recording purposes, and appropriate creation, assignment, and monitoring of grant activities and funds for compliance.

Planning, organization, and coordination of all related grant actions including research, evaluation and review, work paper preparation and completion, effective internal and external communication, and timely accurate request and reporting.

Makes recommendations and exercise independent judgement and initiative to perform a variety of detailed grant management functions.

Utilize standardized pre-defined evaluation tools to monitor outcomes.

Collect and manage required financial and program documents for agency audit and reimbursement purposes.

Participates in local, state and federal administrative meetings and attend other job-related functions as assigned.

Working knowledge of federal laws and regulations and uniform guidance governing grants and contracts.

Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required and assigned by the Director of Grants Accounting.

Minimum Qualifications
A combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of Banner systems preferred. Must possess proficient computer skills, good written and oral communication skills. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a criminal background check as mandated by Tennessee State University.

Education and Experience:

Required: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent.

Preferred: Additional graduate level coursework in business administration, public administration, or other related acceptable fields.

Preferred: Four years of increasingly responsible professional grants or financial analytic or financial management experience with the State of Tennessee or another Higher Learning Institution.
