Job Summary
The Director of IT Systems position in Information Technology is responsible for assisting in developing and maintaining a large, distributed IT system to support all Troy University locations and constituents; leading and implementing aspects of designing the system, from understanding the user needs, developing the business case, and working with the team to developing the technical structure of the system; synthesizing and codifying information that connects data gathered from a variety of stakeholder interviews and research to define and present the business problem and potential solutions; reporting to the CTO and working closely with the IT administrative team to design a system that enables the educational technology systems to respond to catastrophic emergency situations affecting the university community; framing complex problems and working with the team to develop an approach for breaking the problem down into manageable pieces; and leading team members to implement the approach and monitoring the quality of the work to ensure the team meets the quality standards.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, or other related technical field (e.g. Engineering, Mathematics)
2. Seven to ten years of experience in systems management, including systems analysis, design and documentation
3.. Familiarity with higher education
4. Strong ability to obtain requirements and translate them into specifications
5. Experience with Windows, Linux and VMware, and enterprise environments
6. Skill at identifying problems and proposing solutions
7. Strong oral and written communication skills
8. Ability to work with diverse individuals of various backgrounds
9. Strong interpersonal skills
10. Skill to successfully work collaboratively across functional areas
11. Knowledge of business process re-engineering
12. Knowledge of IT system development
13. Knowledge of budget management
14. Ability to be a self-starter
15. Ability to research best practices and incorporate best practices into work
16. Experience working with different types of academic and administrative clients
