Job Description
Job Purpose:The Department of Clinical Sciences, College of Medicine at the University of Sharjah invites OPEN RANK applications from qualified candidates with specialization in Pharmacology to commence appointment in the Fall semester of the Academic Year 2026/2027.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach pharmacology and therapeutics to undergraduate medical students within an integrated, problem-based curriculum, and to teach postgraduate courses, as well as conduct research within the domains of interest of the University.
Applicants holding PhD or equivalent with an excellent record of academic performance and demonstrated expertise in pharmacology and therapeutics are encouraged to apply.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Complete required training to qualify as a facilitator in the Problem Based Learning (PBL) curriculum, with the ability to integrate foundational knowledge into clinical applications.
2. Deliver teaching in accordance with the requirements and philosophy of the PBL curriculum.
3. Provide academic advising and mentorship to undergraduate students.
4. Participate in relevant professional development activities to enhance teaching effectiveness and subject matter expertise.
5. Actively engage in research activities, including participation in research groups, preparation and submission of grant proposals, and supervision of graduate students.
6. Participate in student assessment activities, including the design, implementation, and evaluation of assessment tasks.
7. Contribute actively to departmental duties, university committees, and student related activities.
8. Serve on faculty or university committees as appointed or elected.
9. Perform other academic or administrative duties as assigned by the Department Chairperson or College Dean.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. PhD (or equivalent) in Pharmacology; an MBBS qualification is preferred.
2. A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience in higher education, preferably in medical or health sciences institutions with a proven record of research activity, including publications.
3. Experience with computer assisted and technology enhanced delivery of course content.
4. Experience in Problem Based Learning (PBL) methodologies is highly desirable.
5. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
6. Strong interpersonal skills, enabling effective engagement with students in both individual advising and group instructional settings.
7. A demonstrated commitment to supporting students from diverse and multicultural backgrounds in achieving their academic and personal potential.
8. A collaborative, team oriented approach with motivation to contribute to the growth and advancement of the department.
