Job Description
Job Purpose:The Department of Clinical Sciences, College of Medicine at the University of Sharjah invites OPEN RANK applications from qualified candidates with specialization in General Surgery with Laparoscopy Skills to commence appointment in the Fall semester of the Academic Year 2026/2027.
The successful candidate will be expected to deliver expertise as an academic faculty as well as Consultant Surgeon in General Surgery with Laparoscopy Skills.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Deliver teaching, assessment, and contribute to ongoing curriculum development, reform, and review in General Surgery.
2. Deliver teaching using Problem Based Learning (PBL), Case Based Discussion (CBD), and integrated curriculum approaches.
3. Fulfill clinical duties and responsibilities in the capacity of a Consultant General Surgeon, in accordance with institutional and professional standards.
4. Perform clinical services within the relevant surgical specialty, integrating patient care with teaching responsibilities.
5. Engage in scholarly activities, including conducting research and publishing in peer reviewed journals.
6. Participate in educational activities and academic programs supporting clinical services and training.
7. Supervise, mentor, and academically advise postgraduate students.
8. Participate actively in student education and examination processes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
9. Contribute to university and community service through participation in committees, outreach activities, and professional engagement.
10. Undertake administrative responsibilities as assigned by the Department Chairperson or College Dean.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Board certification in General Surgery (American Board or equivalent recognized clinical qualification).
2. Doctorate in General Surgery from a recognized and accredited university.
3. A minimum of five years of teaching and clinical experience.
