Pending final approval, the Department of Entomology and Center for Vector Biology & Zoonotic Diseases at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station (New Haven Campus), in collaboration with the Yale School of Medicine and USDA APHIS, seeks applicants for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist position. The role is available to start as soon as possible and focuses on research regarding Alpha-gal syndrome (AGS) and the efficacy of nano-acaricides against tick vectors of human and veterinary health importance. This is a 2-year appointment with a competitive salary and full medical and dental benefits.

Scope: The research project, funded by the federal government, will employ serological, molecular, genomic, and biological approaches to investigate: 1) the prevalence of AGS across, Connecticut via cross-sectional analysis and its potential relationship to prior tick bites or other ick-borne diseases; and 2) the efficacy of a recently developed nano-acaricide against key tick vectors.

Required Qualifications: Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in vector biology, molecular biology, or a related discipline. Essential qualities include excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and a demonstrated track record of research productivity through peer-reviewed publications. The successful candidate will possess rigorous training in molecular biology, experience with serological techniques, and expertise in cohort management and insecticide assays. Additionally, a working knowledge of high-throughput sequencing and basic bioinformatics is required.

Additional Qualifications: The ability to conduct field work and work effectively within a collaborative team is required. Applicants must possess a valid US driver’s license. The successful candidate will also be expected to supervise undergraduate students and technical staff to fulfill the project's research objectives.
