Clinical Nurse III – Outpatient Oncology Infusion Clinic

We have a great opportunity for an experienced Clinical Nurse in our outpatient infusion clinic in Corona. The nurse plays a crucial role in providing specialized care to our patients in the outpatient chemotherapy infusion clinic. Your primary responsibility is to deliver comprehensive nursing care to the patients while assisting them through their treatment journey offering emotional support and education.

The nurses at City of Hope play a vital role in improving the quality of life for cancer patients by providing expert care, support, and education throughout their cancer journey.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Assessing of Patients’ Health Status:
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' health status before, during, and after chemotherapy infusion sessions.
  • Monitor and document vital signs, symptoms, and overall response to treatment.
  • Care Planning and Implementation:
  • Develop comprehensive care plans tailored to each patients’ unique needs and treatment regimen.
  • Implement nursing interventions in line with established care plans, ensuring optimal outcomes.
  • Chemotherapy Administration:
  • Administer chemotherapy support to patients and their families regarding the treatment process, potential side effects, and self-care strategies.
  • Offer emotional support, fostering a caring and empathetic environment for patients facing the challenges of cancer.
  • Coordination of Care:
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care and ensure seamless transitions between various stages of treatment.
  • Schedule and facilitate follow-up appointments, actively participating in the continuity of care.
  • Management of Side Effects:
  • Assist patients in managing and coping with side effects and complications arising from cancer treatment.
  • Proactively address and alleviate symptoms, collaborating with healthcare providers as needed.
  • Quality Improvement:
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the overall are provided in the outpatient infusion clinic.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or master’s degree nursing is required or graduate from a nursing school with a diploma, associate degree in nursing and must obtain BSN within three (3) years of hire or transfer.
  • Three to five years related experience.
  • Current California Registered Nurse license
  • Current BLS through American Heart Association.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • One year oncology and chemo administration
  • National certification (must be obtained within 3 years of hire and must be maintained thereafter in order to Clin III status)
  • Two years (2) years of experience in a physician office or hospital
  • *If applicable to your site Chemotherapy/biotherapy certification

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $56.73 - $82.26 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
