We’re looking for an experienced Sponsored Projects Financial Analyst to join our Sponsored Project Administration team and support the financial management of sponsored research awards.
In this role, you’ll manage a portfolio of sponsored projects, ensure compliance with federal regulations and sponsor requirements, prepare financial reports, and provide guidance to investigators and department staff on post-award financial management.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across the grant lifecycle to review expenditures, monitor cost share and financial activity, support billing and reporting processes, and ensure timely project closeout.
What You’ll Do:
· Manage a portfolio of sponsored research projects and ensure compliance with sponsor guidelines, federal regulations, and university policies
· Prepare and submit accurate and timely financial reports for sponsored awards
· Review expenses, cost transfers, and budget activity to ensure allowability and compliance
· Monitor cost share commitments, facilities and administrative costs, and project financial activity
· Support project closeout and ensure awards are finalized in accordance with sponsor requirements
· Advise principal investigators and department staff on financial and policy questions related to sponsored projects
· Collaborate with internal teams on billing, receivables, and subrecipient monitoring
· Provide training, guidance, and support to the research community on sponsored project financial management
What we’re looking for:
· Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or related field
· 2–4+ years of relevant financial or sponsored programs experience
· Strong knowledge of federal cost principles and sponsored project compliance
· Experience with research administration systems such as PeopleSoft preferred
· CRA or CFRA certification strongly valued

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Education and work experience:
Bachelor’s Degree Finance, Business Administration or Accounting
Relevant Work Experience 2-4 years
Competencies:
Accounting and budgeting skills in managing complex financial accounts and funds, as well as knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal, and reporting principles.
Working knowledge of contracts and grants transactions and applicable financial systems, as well as related policy requirements.
Demonstrated working knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, sponsor, and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines.
Ability to work independently and as a team member, research and resolve problems, meet deadlines, and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
Independent judgment and strong organization and communication skills and customer service focus across broad and diverse subject areas.
Desirable Qualifications
Desirable: 3-5 years demonstrated experience in research contract and grant management.
Certified Research Administration (CRA) or Certified Financial Research Administration (CFRA) designation.
