Post-Doctoral Fellowship

The TSET Health Promotion Research Center (HPRC) of the NCI-Designated Stephenson Cancer Center (SCC) at the University of Oklahoma Health Campus (OUHC) is seeking applications for 1 open postdoctoral research fellowship (typically a 2-year appointment).

The fellow will work with Dr. Thanh C. Bui on multiple research projects focusing on behavioral interventions for cancer prevention and control in high-risk populations, including immunizations against oncogenic viruses and tobacco cessation. Ideally, candidates would aspire to become independent academic researchers in the areas of health behavior change, cancer prevention, and global health. The starting salary is $70,000 per year + $5,000 annual travel and training fund.

The HPRC has unique resources including the Tobacco Treatment Research Program, the Mobile Health Shared Resources, the Tobacco Regulatory Science Laboratory (designed for the observation and measurement of tobacco use), and a Training Program for fellows and graduate/undergraduate trainees. The fellow will be involved in data analyses, manuscript preparation, and other research activities for both completed and ongoing studies. There will be opportunities for the fellow to contribute to interventional research designs and to use quantitative methods or mixed-methods research approach. Fellows will also take part in the formal HPRC training program which includes seminars focused on cancer prevention research and career development.

Qualifications include a doctoral degree in social/behavioral sciences, public health, psychology, or other relevant areas. Fellow duties are highly focused on writing (e.g., manuscripts and grant applications); thus, excellent writing skills are required. Experience in working with diverse populations, tobacco research, health promotion, and mixed methods are preferred but not required.
