Job Purpose

The Department of Physiotherapy at the University of Sharjah is seeking a qualified faculty member for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor in Audiology & Speech Language Pathology to join the team in the Fall semester of the academic year 2026/2027.

The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate teaching in Audiology & Speech Language Pathology, with specific focuses on Speech Language Pathology courses, develop an active research agenda, and participate in clinical, community, and professional service activities in alignment with the mission of the College of Health Sciences. The position requires delivery of core clinical and academic Speech Language Pathology curriculum, including supervision of student clinical training.

Major Responsibilities

1. Deliver high-quality teaching in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology, with primary focus for Speech Language Pathology courses at the undergraduate level.
2. Supervise student projects and/or supervision of clinical placements.
3. Engage in independent research and scholarly activities and actively seek research grants.
4. Contribute to community engagement and professional service activities, supporting the mission and outreach objectives of the department and institution.
5. Perform assigned administrative and academic service duties, and undertake any other responsibilities as directed by the Head of Department or designated representatives.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Ph.D. in Speech Language Pathology (or Communication Sciences & Disorders) from a recognized university. Master’s and bachelor’s degrees must be in Speech & Hearing Sciences or in the same field.
2. Minimum 2 to 3 years of university-level teaching experience or demonstrated teaching potential.
3. Documented clinical experience in Speech Language Pathology (post-qualification), including direct patient care and clinical supervision.
4. Evidence of research activity with publications in peer-reviewed journals.
5. Applicants must clearly demonstrate continuous academic and professional formation in Speech and Hearing Sciences from undergraduate level onward.

1. Five (5) or more years of teaching experience in Speech Language Pathology.
2. Strong research profile with publications in Scopus-indexed journals.
3. Evidence of research grant activity or strong potential to secure external funding.
4. Experience in supervision of student research projects and/or clinical placements.
5. Recognized professional qualification and clinical training in Speech Language Pathology, with eligibility for professional licensure/registration.
