Job Description

Reporting to the interim executive director of housing and residence life, the director of residence life will lead the department of housing's residence life program, which addresses residence hall matters, including student well-being, staffing, programs, policy formulation, and residence hall government advising at Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). Setting employee and/or group goals, determining the organizational structure to meet those goals, assessing employee and/or group performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations are important components of the role. This position will interact consistently with Georgia Tech senior staff, students, and parents. The director supervises three direct reports and 33 full-time team members. Approximately 255 student staff also report to residence life. Budget oversight is approximately $8 million annually, including $4.5 million for personnel.
Qualifications
Requirements include a bachelor's degree and a minimum of eight years of job-related experience. This job requires a working knowledge of program development and administration as they relate to student life in a university environment. Evidence of skills in leadership, organizing, budgeting, conflict resolution, crisis management, office management, communications, and presentation are sought in an ideal candidate. Competency with office-related computer applications is required. Preferred qualifications include a master's degree and ten or more years of experience in the field.
