Professor Konstantin Vodopyanov’s laboratory at the College of Optics and Photonics (CREOL), University of Central Florida (UCF), has an opening for a postdoctoral research associate. The initial appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal, dependent upon satisfactory performance. Research in Vodopyanov’s laboratory focuses on developing next-generation optical frequency-comb technologies across an ultrabroad spectral range from terahertz to ultraviolet. The research encompasses both fundamental studies and advanced applications with opportunities for collaboration with leading academic, industrial, and government laboratories. Applications include precision spectroscopy for fundamental science, biomedical diagnostics, and exoplanet research as well as quantum science, and the study of metamaterials. Successful applicant is expected to demonstrate strong experimental skills and will be actively involved in developing and operating state-of-the-art laser systems, performing precision measurements, supervising undergraduate and graduate students and contributing to scientific publications. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Optics/Photonics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. A publication record in at least one of the following areas would be a significant advantage: ultrafast lasers, nonlinear optics, electronic systems for active laser stabilization, and optical frequency combs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are also expected.
