Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in music education according to candidate’s specializations and needs of the Conservatory.
Collaborate with music education faculty to support field experiences and student teaching, while cultivating and maintaining strong partnerships with area schools and practicing music educators.
Assist in delivering the graduate music education curriculum and mentoring graduate students in music education, supporting training and experiences that could serve as a foundation for a successful career in academia.
Maintain an active profile as a performing musician through engagement in artistic activities within the university and the broader community.
Teach selected courses in the Summer Master of Music Education program.
Engage in a variety of service activities including committees, recruitment, outreach, and community partnerships.
Collaborate with faculty across the Conservatory providing interdisciplinary experiences that train students in an integrated artist-scholar framework.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications

PhD in Music Education (ABD considered if completed by the start of appointment).
A minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in K–12 settings.
Excellent musicianship applicable to both public performance and classroom settings.
Evidence of scholarly activity in music education and demonstrated potential for ongoing research productivity.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Active involvement in professional music education organizations (e.g., NAfME, ACDA).
Preferred Qualifications

Specialty in Choral/Vocal Music Education
Evidence of successful teaching experience in a higher education setting.
Experience supervising student teachers in public school settings.
Experience teaching and/or guiding graduate research.
Previous artistic leadership, collaboration, and community engagement through performance and/or educational initiatives.
Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary is commensurate with background which qualifies you for a tenure-track academic position and experience. This is a 9-month, benefit-eligible, full-time (1.0) faculty appointment eligible for ranked promotion to begin Fall Semester 2027.
